*Probe Report submitted by the BMC Commissioner in Jogeshwari Land Reservation Case is a half-baked, desperate attempt to save the culprits: Sanjay Nirupam*
*Sanjay Nirupam plans to write to the CM yet again demanding stringent actions against Ajoy Mehta*
*Mumbai:* Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam today slammed the BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta following the suspension order issued against four civic officers from BMC’s legal and Development Plan (DP) Department in the Jogeshwari land reservation case wherein the civic body lost a prime piece of land admeasuring 13,000 sq. mts worth Rs. 500 Crore. Calling the probe report presented by the BMC Commissioner on Monday an eyewash, Sanjay Nirupam stated that the entire idea of having the BMC Commissioner conduct a probe report is absurd since he is the main culprit in this case.
Sanjay Nirupam said, “The probe report submitted by BMC Commissioner Ajoy Mehta is a finely crafted and half-baked attempt to target the smaller fish thus providing enough time and means for the bigger ones to escape. This is an old tactic opted by the civic body to pass the buck and save the culprits. And in this case, the BMC Commissioner is the biggest culprit”.
Sanjay Nirupam reiterated his initial claims that the BMC Commissioner is the mastermind behind this land scam. “The BMC Commissioner should be treated as an accused in this case. We had demanded a proper judicial inquiry in this case which will then bring out the names of all those involved in it. However, this inquiry is for the Maha CM Devendra Fadnavis to save his own skin and the probe report is an incomplete and a desperate attempt made by the BMC Commissioner to save himself and his favourite officials thus targeting the smaller fish”, added Nirupam.
The Mumbai Congress Unit Chief had met with the Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe earlier this month demanding stringent actions against Ajoy Mehta regarding his involvement in this case. Mr. Nirupam also wrote to the CM demanding legal actions against the BMC Commissioner. He has now stated that he will write to the CM again asking him to look into the matter and inquire the role of the BMC Commissioner in the whole scam.
