Mumbai: Mira- Bhayandar Civic Body Corporators shared their views on Total lockdown in Mira-Bhayandar, special report from Ground Zero by with Hello Mumbai News reporter Shikha Singh, Special Report from Ground Zero

Mumbai: In an interaction with Hello Mumbai News reporter Shikha Singh, Four Corporators shared the reasons for the rapid spike in covid-19 cases and also view on 10 days Curfew imposed in Mira- Bhayandar.

1. Rita Shah, BJP Civic Body Corporator, Prabhag Ward 1 1, BJP
said, “lockdown is not a solution, people will have to understand their own responsibility. The reason behind the spread of virus in such large number emerged in relaxations in Unlock-1. People were care free and were roaming without maintaining social distancing. Government is also answerable for this. There is no proper facility and stringent rules such as sanitization, facilities to patients, no beds and medicine. Dr. Vijay Rathod our current Commissioner had taken hasty decision of re-opening bakery from 2:30 to 6 in morning during EID festival. With the result, people took to the streets and moving out from home which led to extensive increase in cases.
As a corporator of my ward I’m not dependant on BMC. I have my own stored medicines and machine for sensitization. I also distributed food grains for the needy.

About curfew she added, “Curfew was essential since people were not following basic norms. Government need to be stern in their decisions and actions and make people obey the rules. We can’t blame government alone but in some case like there is no proper facilities of quarantine centre, medicine, food, water and all the necessity.”

In a candid appeal to all, “after this curfew we have to maintain social distancing and wearing mask and sanitizer is a must and a major precaution to avoid contact with large number of people.

2. Nilam Dhawan, Corporator, Prabhag Ward -3, Shiv Sena, said

that according to her there are three reason, “the reason in number of covid-19 cases in Mira- Bhayandar. Firstly, public were careless and not following the precaution. People are saunters on a road, babbling, gossiping with their friends, family around streets which is very dangerous in this pandemic situation.

Secondly, people who are work in hospitals and BMC are working for the patients, cleaning and in sanitization process.

Thirdly, people who are going for their job or traveling by public transport caused spike in covid-19 cases.”
“Besides people, in BMC there was also shortage in man force but now they are interviewing new staff.

We are ensuring that people do not move out so that the chain of covid-19 should break.

We are also distributing medicines for the immunity and also distribution of food grains. If some of people don’t have ration card for them also, we are providing Ration. If anyone from my ward was found positive, I personally take the initiative to sanitize that area and help them to get admission in hospital for test and quarantine.”

3. Pankaj Pandey (Daroga) Corporator of Prabhag (ward no.)-1 D, BJP, said

Pankaj Pandey (Daroga) Corporator of Prabhag (ward no.)-1 D, BJP.

because of unlock,
people started moving out and coming contact with each other. Lockdown is required to curb and vigilant on the spread of virus people will acquiescent it.
Moreover, government tried to contain the spread of covid-19. If people follow this lockdown with 100% then only it will be useful for breaking chain of covid-19.

Alongside the New Commissionsr we started helping people also. We cancelled home quarantine. We distributed all the necessities for the people even distributed essentials. We started online home delivery system for people.

4. Mr. Madan Singh, Corporator, BJP, Prabhag ward-2, said that

. Madan Singh, Corporator, BJP, Prabhag ward-2.

people living in Mira- Bhayandar work in Mumbai side as BMC workers, hospital workers, bank officer and all the essentials works which was open and working during lockdown also. This is the prime reason for spread of covid-19 here. Until now if we see record, most of them work in Mumbai.
Lockdown will help somehow to control the spread. People were negligent toward covid-19. They moved about and opening shops without precaution. There was no proper system of unlock. Likewise lockdown was important. Unlock-1 was also equally important. foremost. There is no coordination between governance and administrator also. If we have to discern the local issue then conversation is must. If it will remain like this then number of cases keep increasing and it will prove difficult to control it. Person who is not positive are more worrisome and are creating a panic situation.
So government have to analysis this matter closely and take action.
