Mumbai: Mumbai has become a magnet for migrants and the financial capital now presents a melting pot scenario.

Deporting Migrants to their native place has inevitably turned out to be a big issue for the Maharashtra Government.

Mumbai Police in association with many NGos and Government representatives are keenly and seriously working round the clock on it.

Hello Mumbai News Team on Thursday visited the Goregaon Police Station for an overall view on the entire operation .

Speaking with Hello Mumbai News Editor Aleem Sheikh, Senior Inspector of Police, Goregaon Police Station, Harish Goswami made it known ” My all staff are on their toes and working hard. To be precise, more than 20 officers are working from day one by helping the migrants to fill up the forms as most of them are illiterate. Even as my staff is helping them our local BMC Municipal Corporator, Harsh Bhargav Patel has come forward in supporting us and we have set up a team of volunteers who are doing a fantastic job of data collection on their laptop.

As a Corporator, Harsh Patel is providing us with local information about the migrants wishing to go to their native place Moreover, our passport staff too are very much busy in documentations.

Another Police Inspector of the Goregaon Police Station, Mahesh kumar  Thakor informed us that as of now we have received more 2,500 application forms from migrants with most of them wishing to go to Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Jharkhand. Our staff members have been collecting their documents which will be forward to our higher authority soon.

Harash Patel, further said, “my role is simple. To provide whatever assistance I can to our corona warriors. While they risk their lives to safeguard us it is my moral responsibility to help them in which ever way possible. Currently we are closely working with Goregaon Police station in setting up infrastructure so as to enable them to process the request of the migrants smoothly without any hurdles. From erecting tents to coolers to number of volunteers to do data entry , whereever the senior officer needs my help I along with my team assist them to get it accomplished.”

“It is really great to see the setup of Goregaon Police station. When they can think out of the box to ensure minimum hurdles for migrants applying to leave to their State, it becomes my moral responsibility to ensure they get what they need”.

Hello Mumbai News Team salutes Harsh Bhargav Patel, Corporator Ward No.55 and the entire Police Team of Goregaon Police Station for their impeccable work and good initiative for the migrants.
