Former Congress MLA Krishna Hegde and Bollywood actor Dalip Tahil joined BJP ahead of BMC elections which is to be held on February 21. Both of them have joined BJP in the presence of Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and State BJP unit chief Raosaheb Danve at the CMs official residence Varsha in South Mumbai late last night.

Asked about reason for his leaving Congress, Hegde said the autocratic behaviour of Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam was responsible for his decision. I tried to point out to party leadership about how Nirupam was damaging the party. However, no cognisance was taken of my plea, Hegde, who represented Vile Parle Assembly constituency said. I am a second generation Congressman. Nirupam has ruined the party, he said. Congress wont get more than 25 of the total 227 seats in the BMC polls, he said.

Krishna Hegde had been long association with Ex MP Priya Dutt, and Dutt family but from the last Lok Sabha Election he has not good relationship. The party insiders say Priya Dutt was not happy with him because of poor performance from his assembly in the last Lok Sabha Election. After Nizamuddin Rayen (Mumbai Minority Chief) this is the second set back for the Congress party ahead of BMC polls.
