Teacher’s Day is celebrated annually on September 5 to mark the birth anniversary of
Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President and the second President of India, who was also a teacher, scholar and philosopher. His contribution to shaping India’s education is immense.
On this day in school students put up dance and singing performances, events and dramas for their teachers. They also greet their favourite teachers with rose bouquet, handmade cards and gifts as a token of appreciation.
The Day is hailed as very significant, as students across all educational institutions express their gratitude and honour all their teachers and mentors.
Teachers are recognised for their unspoken contribution to the development of society.
Since beginning, teachers have emerged as stepping stones into the world of education, moral values and social stability.
When students met Dr.Radhakrishnan after he assumed office as President to celebrate September 5 as a special day, he instead asked them to observe this day as Teacher’s Day, in recognition of their contribution to society.
Ever since then, Teacher’s Day has been celebrated across schools, colleges, universities and all educational institutions.
The Day is hailed as very significant, as students across all educational institutions express their gratitude and honour all their teachers and mentors.
Teachers are also recognised for their unspoken contribution to the development of society.
