Yes we are talking about Mehnaz Shroff, she shares her Entertainment (Television and Bollywood) journey with Hello Mumbainews.com Correspondent Priyanka Yadav.

Hello Mumbai News : Why did you choose Acting as your profession?
Mehnaz Shroff : As a child, I always wanted to become an actor. But, as my father was in the army, we had to move a lot to different states and I never got an opportunity to pursue an acting career. But then finally, I had the courage and told my dad about my passion and he supported me & brought me to Mumbai. Then I started by joining an acting class, began to visit offices and carry my portfolio. Slowly I started getting some offers and that’s how my career started.
Hello Mumbai News : What has been your recent shoot ?
Mehnaz Shroff : I have just shot for an important role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, in which I play Alia bhatt’s Bua. Plus I have done a web series called Asur 2, playing the lead character’s mother. I am currently shooting for Kundali Bhagya show. In which I am playing a character called Janki aunty. Its a continuity character, and Janki is like a Godmother to the lead character Preeta, played by Shraddha Arya. Some other notable films which I have done are Wajah tum ho with Sharman Joshi, Chhote Nawab with Akhay Oberoi, Thar for Anil kapoor productions in which i am playing Harshvardhan kapoor’s mother. Also have done an advertisement for Mankind Pharma which got around 8 million views on Youtube, where I played the main mother.
Hello Mumbai News : Having done many serials which according to you has been the best for you and which has left an incredible mark?
Mehnaz Shroff : Having done around 300 episodic shows like Savdhaan India, Crime Patrol, Crime Alert, etc & 200 regional films as a young mother transitioning to old as well & also Hindi films like Veer, where I had played Zarine khan’s Godmother. I have enjoyed each one of them, but I think Kundali Bhagya experience is memorable as its my latest and the character is extremely outspoken which is completely opposite my real nature. So its a challenge and I love challenges as an actor.
Hello Mumbai News : Have you shot for any regional films ?
Mehnaz Shroff : As I said earlier, I have done about 300 regional Bhojpuri films like Jwala, Challenge, Dil, Jung, Tohre pyaar mein Deewana ho gayini, Adalat, Inteqam with all the top actors like Ravi Kishen, Manoj Tiwari, Nirhua(Dinesh lal Yadav), Pawan singh, Kesari Lal Yadav etc. I have played all kind of roles like Young to Old mother, Negative characters, and have been an integral part of the films playing major roles in them parallel to the lead characters. But now I have left the regional space and now focussing on the Hindi industry.
Hello Mumbai News : Which was your first Serial ?
Mehnaz Shroff : Gul Gulshan Gulfam for Dd 1 in the year 1988. It was an amazing experience with a Fantastic cast and crew. Really enjoyed being on that set.
Hello Mumbai News : In future where we all will see you ?
Mehnaz Shroff : You will see me in a lot more Web series, Films, Television shows. Right now I am busy with Kundali Bhagya but would love to explore more roles in the television space. Also I have done many Ads recently and I am loving the Ad industry, so would love to be a part of more Ads and see where the destiny takes me.
Hello Mumbai News : If you get an offer for a serial what will be your first priority a Film or a serial ?
Mehnaz Shroff : It depends. The main reason for doing a serial is the stability it brings with it. You receive regular income and can plan things for the future. Making a name in the film industry is a tough job and you need a lot of perseverance. But now with the popularity of Ott platforms, its like a blessing in disguise for all the actors who now can show their talents in multiple projects simultaneously. So answering your question, I think the best way forward for me would be to continue doing a Serial, and juggling some film projects in between.
