One estimate is that 40% of Nigerian women are entrepreneurs. This fits into a pattern in sub-Saharan Africa which has the highest female entrepreneurship rate globally.
Female entrepreneurship is vital for our future. Collectively we can make a change by closing the gap between men and women in the workforce.
Entrepreneurs are those adventurous, daredevils who drive deep into the pressing problems of society and try to find solutions to them, not by leaving the responsibilities in the reins of the government or business, but by trying to change systems as a whole and persuading societies to take new initiatives.
In our Entrepreneur series today we are introducing you a very dynamic and popular Entrepreneur of Nigeria who is known for her remarkable and outstanding performance in the field of Beauty and Care who always believes in Women Empowerment. Yes we are talking about Favour Agbai, she shares her Entrepreneurial journey with Hello Mumbainews.com Team
My name is Favour Agbai, an undergraduate of Mass Communication in National Open University of Nigeria 2018 till date and also an entrepreneur, being an entrepreneur to me doesn’t just stop at having the ability to create a business but also the ability to help my community to fill employment gaps. I am 26 years old and I am from Abịa State in Nigeria, the last daughter of my parents out of 4 girls and 2 boys.
My mum taught me how to constantly think of new innovations on how to upgrade the system.
I obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Purchasing and Supply in Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, my study of this course lasted a period of 4 years starting from 2015 till 2019. During the process of studying this course I took several jobs to sponsor myself through school.
I have worked in several organisations but I would mention a few; I worked at Elisa Halls and Rentals from 2017 to 2019 as a Secretary then I moved on to work in Love World Inc. as a productivity staff from 2019 till late 2021. I also started my own business in mid 2021, Amazing Grace Glam. I use this business to appreciate the beauty of women, and at Amazing Grace Glam we Make-up, make female wears such as; wigs, hairs, clothing and Afro beads. Since I started Amazing Grace Glam, I have taught three young girls the art of beatification. I believe that every woman deserve the right to choose how they want to look.
I got interested in modelling since I was much more younger, but I was not given the opportunity to live my dreams, I tried to venture into modelling, but then I had a lot in my plate , but I rather brought in a younger cousin to the modelling limelight by telling her to fill in my space in the modelling agency, now she is doing very well in modelling. As the popular saying goes, “you only live once”, I thought to myself that I must fulfill my dream as a model. And I believe this dream of mine will come through with “Mr and miss real estate Africa” My dream as a model goes beyond being a model but my main purpose is to be able to reach out to younger girls, empower them and guide them on becoming self made and self reliance.
A Lot of people believe that women are weak in that case presenting us to be gullible and fragile but I believe that women are actually the backbone of our World. Women are strong!. I sincerely think that it’s high time we stand up as woman to help our men make our world a better place.
