Santosh Sharma, Social Entrepreneur Dist.Chairman Inner Wheel Club, Dist 310, 20 – 21, shares her realistic experience, social work and charity amid Covid-19 pandemic in an exclusive interview with Hello Mumbai News Correspondent Neha Singh
Excerpts of the interview with Santosh Sharma :
Neha Singh: Hi Mam, Welcome to Hello Mumbai News. Hope you are safe and sound and doing fine.
At the outset, we take the privilege to congratulate you for being the District Chairman of district 310.
We request you to please share your vision and plans for 2020-21 towards the development of your District.
Santosh Sharma: Hi Neha.Let me personally thank you for your greetings.This year, we are focusing on UN based goals like water conservation, health and santization. Our aim is to achieve the goal of the Association, “HOPE and to Lead The Change”

Apart from this we will focus on environment and many other worthy projects.
Neha Singh: Could you please highlight something about charity and social work carried out by you amid the Covid-19 induced lockdown lockdown?
Santosh Sharma: Since it was my wish to serve the people, I held all Club level post and served with dedication,commitment and sincerity. We planted 1,123 plants were planted in by the Club’s .We Honoured 583 Doctors on Covid-19. . We dispursed Ration to needy our 10 Club’s Donated Ration to Diffrent places. We also took the initiative to save Water . 150 food packets and 500 Sanitary napkins were distributed to needy
We distributed 150 INNER WHEEL Bags and took the initiative to take care of essential things of old age homes. We donated 6 Swing Machines to womens for the self employment . Apart from that our clubs donated the Full education year fees of 39 Girl children.
Amid Pandemic we distributed 1576 masks,220 bottles of santizers, 5 PPE kits,Oxygen Cylinder, 50 Pairs of gloves to the hospitals and needy . We also Sanitized 2 Hospitals and 1 Tunnel by our Club .
Our clubs had organised various medical checkup camp for an old age home’s senior citizens on 21st August and provided them with all the essentials they needed. IWC Khurja distributed medicines, masks, sanitizers, gloves and food essentials to a colony’s senior watchmen.
27 clubs from District 310 have come forward to make the innerwheel forest and all clubs have transformed the dry barren grounds from nearby villages’ schools and streets into beautiful lush green gardens.Further more we are working on several projects.
Neha Singh: Mam,what type of challenges you have faced during this lockdown?
Santosh Sharma: Before this lockdown we used to come out and meet people.The main challenge is we are not able to move out from our houses. But our Association President Vasudhaa Chandrachud showed a path to start virtual meet which is new for all of us. We have organized seminars to motivate our members so that they can come forward to deal with the situation. We had orgazined several webinars, virtual meets to motivate members and people to work for the betterment of society. Still after all these challenges we are helping people by providing them basic necessities and other essential commodities.
Neha Singh: Can you please share your lockdown experience with us?
Santosh Sharma : Well, Covid-19 Pandemic experience was eally great. Each and every district chairperson had a lot of projects and vision in mind to accomplish. It took us seven years to reach the District Chairman Post. So, when Covid-19 struck, everything turned dark in front of us. But thanks to our Vasudhaa Chandrachud our Association President who showed us a path to conduct everything virtually. Even in this circumstances we had did so many projects and people came forward to help the needy. In fact in these months we have established two new Inner Wheel Clubs and inducted almost 52 women members of Inner Wheel District 310. According to me, people have United together to fight with Covid-19.
Neha Singh: Mam, can you give some information about your district, how many clubs come under you and how many states and cities are there?
Santosh Sharma: Well, District 310 covers a vast comprehensive states of Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad,Saharanpur Bulandshahr Lalitpur, and many districts. Basically there are 58 clubs in district 310 and there are approximately 1430 members.
Neha Singh : Mam are you confident that all the service projects will be succeed during the tough time?
Santosh Sharma : Yes, absolutely quite confident because after doing projects we are getting absolute positive response. I am 100% sure that in last few months of 2020, we will definitely cover all projects.Everyone is confident that they can complete the project and have desired results.
Neha Singh: Mam, do you wish to make any appeal to our viewers?
Santosh Sharma : Personally, I would say people who are coming forward to help people amid lockdown they should help in normal times also. I believe If eeveryone is with us, we would be able to move forward a lot. We should help people who need our help.

Brief Introduction of Santosh Sharma:
Santosh Sharma is benevolent, focused, tenacious, tolerant, target oriented, well organized and versatile. She has been associated with Inner Wheel club since 2007. At club level she has worked at various positions including Secretary, voting delegate and President At District level, she has worked as Editor, I.S.0. , Treasurer, Secretary and Vice – Chairman. She has also recieved many awards for this.
Some important projects of her are Helping victims of Uttarakhand tragedy during 2013 to distribute medicines and other relief material by collaborating with other organizations such as Goons. Actively working with various organizations for education of the girl child under the banner ‘Beti padhao Beti bachao and many more.
She is an affectionate, disciplined and religious. She has been awarded by various organizations for her service to the society. Some of are Narl Shakti Ratna Samman ‘and’ Woman Community Service ‘by the NGO Prayatna , ‘Adarsh Mahila Puraskar – 2016’ by women’s wing of the Humanities welfare society, Uttar Pradesh ‘Shanti Ratna Samman’ by Rashtriya Acharyakul Adhiveshan in 2018 and many more.
She never leaves her individual characteristics and loves to spread happiness, wherever she goes she spread smiles.
