Mumbai: Mumbai MLA-VERSOVA CONSTITUENCY Dr Bharati Lavekarji
and Shri Yogiraj Dhabadkarji –Local Municipal Corporator BMC K/W along
with active volunteers like Ms. Ruchi Seth come forward to support lockdown
affected people in Andheri Lokhandwala.
Mumbai: The Coronavirus crisis induced lockdown has changed the world
completely in the last few months. Everyone have been locked into their homes
and economic activity has come to a near standstill. Everyone has been impacted.
The market condition has become worse. Many Private establishments has shut
down and left its staff in penury. People have no job. No money to run their
kitchen. Such people need help and even if you don’t know them, yet you must
stretch your hands to help them.
With its sudden appearance, Covid-19 is a catastrophe that spawned a crisis. Its
devastating effects have everyone including decision makers confused, adrift and
on edge.
We must step forward to help those impacted by Covid-19 by giving them food
and shelter and not to ignore them.

Alongside MLA Bharti Lavekar
Ms. Ruchi Seth said that, “we have a very dynamic team of our MLA Bharti
Lavekarji and Mr. Yogiraj Dhabadkarji our Corporator. They have been working
round the clock in our area from sanitization to distribution of food and ration
kits, medicine and masks. I am only a small part of the bigger team as a volunteer,
like me there are many people who are helping them with this work directly or
indirectly.”
Adding on she asserted “it is impossible for anyone to be everywhere and Lavekar
mam has been doing an amazing job in our area. We felt, that as a responsible
citizen we should help them to manage so much work because several lanes
needed to be covered with societies too need to be visited that’s how I’m attached
to a bigger team. Whatever job were entrusted we have been carrying them out to
our utmost capacity.
When asked on the number of Members working with her on this project, “we
have many other volunteers who are very actively coming forward to help and
support our MLA DR. Bharti Lavekarji in the good work she is doing in Andheri
west. Bharti mam’s team is very big with more than 40-45 people attached.
Everyone is contributing in whatever way they can maintaining social distancing
norms.”
She further claimed that “Our local Corporator Yogirajji has been very actively
“organizing sanitization in the lanes, distributing the homeopathy pills Arsenic
Album 30 in all the societies, coordinating n distribution of those medicine so
that it reaches to maximum number of people have been an arduous task and in
our individual capacity we were trying to help people with masks and also
providing immunity boost-up multivitamins. There are some people who are
providing service to us like vegetable vendors, fruit vendors, cleaning staff and
small retailer shops, time to time they have been educated about the hygiene and
our team sees to it that they follow the guidelines set by the government for
everybody’s safety, fortunately it was managed well in our area and luckily cases
were lesser, unfortunately post unlock 1.0 people are now being careless and we
are witnessing a steep rise in the number of cases.”
When asked about her experience during the lockdown she said, “Lockdown was
important. In our capacity we all tried to follow all the rules. Ofcourse it is
mentally draining for a lot of people to be inside the house especially with most
people without house help.”
Her appeal to all Mumbaikars!
“While many activities have been permitted under the Mission Begin Again
guidelines issued by State Government making the movement of people easier,
onus of defeating the invisible enemy COVID-19 lies on all of us and we can
achieve this only when we follow the personal safety and social distancing
guidelines at all times.”
