Mumbai Bengalis of Kandivali’s Lokhandwala celebrated the traditional Pithe Puli on 25th January

Mumbai Bengalis of Lokhandwala, Kandivali celebrated Pithe Puli Utsav on 25th January 2020. This renowned traditional Utsav or festival of the Bengalis comes in the Winter Season on the day of Makarsankranti and on the last day of their poush mash(month) is celebrated not only in Mumbai but by Bengalis spread across India and countries across the seven seas.On this auspicious occasion, friends join together and celebrate the utsav with traditional Grandeur. This utsav is neither backed by any organization or corporate sponsorship but just out of their own funding.

Pithe Puli receipe is a combination of milk, rice paste mixed with various ingredients.

Bengalis residing in Mumbai since long celebrated this traditional Utsav Pithe Puli alongwith s folklore song and dance form of Bengal.

Bengalis who are fond of culture embedded with song, poetry, dance exhibited their talents with various songs and dance from Tagore’s song to folklore on Baul Bhatiali, Tusu, with recitation from Bengali poetry.

Dipannita Banerjee, Munmun Chakravarty, Munmun Chatterji, Shiladitya Chowdhury, Nishantika Chowdhury, Kasturi Das, Debjani Basu Mullick aptly performed to cater to the fervour of Bengal with musical support by Basudev Saha and Bapi Roy.

The entire programme was anchored by Jishu Mitra and Debjani Basu Mullick. The Bengalis aspire to create the fragrance of Bengal in a much bigger domain next year.
