R.D. and S.H. National College, Bandra and the Sindhi Chamber of Commerce organized a one-day
fest, ‘JASHAN- a Celebration of the Sindhiyat in US. Ir is an Intercollegiate Sindhi festival to promote and
foster the Sindhi heritage and ethos, on the 11th of December, 2019 with the theme being ‘A Typical
The journey of the Sindhi community following the the partition of India is truly an inspiration that should be
promoted within the millennial of the community to encourage them to reconnect to their roots, their
identity, heritage and the language, helping them to nurture and treasure this rich culture.
The fest, which celebrates this milestone journey of the Sindhi community, was inaugurated with great
enthusiasm. Principal of the College, Dr. Neha Jagtiani, gave the welcome address which was followed
by felicitation of the guests- Mr. Kishu Mansukhani, the President and trustee, HSNCB; Mr. Anil
Harish, Past President and trustee, HSNCB; Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, immediate past president and
trustee, HSNCB; Ms. Maya Sahani, trustee, HSNCB; Mr. Bharat Ajwani, President of Sindhi Chamber
After the felicitation and speeches by the guests, the opening ceremony opening took place with a vote of thanks by Prof. Namrata Ajwani, Convenor of ‘JASHAN- a Celebration of the
Sindhiyat in US’’. The ‘Dance and Spirit of Sindhi’ event successfully portrayed the culture and heritage
of the Sindhi community.
The Fashion Show glamorously illustrated the theme of the event – A
Quintessential Sindhi Wedding, which gave everyone an essence of the Sindhi ethos. A Musical
Evening, performed by a famous band from Surat, Udaan, which was organized by the Sindhi Chamber
Of Commerce, added “Jashan” to the day. The festival was a grand success with a record participation
of 13 colleges from and around Mumbai and concluded with valediction and the award ceremony.
