Imaan Saeed an A Level Student at the London Academy of Excellence and young ambassador at Heaven Help Us Cricket Club, whose members include famous Human Rights Lawyer Clive Stafford Smith, writer Peter Oborne, ex England All –Rounder Chris Lewis and Actor Super Star Colin Salmon, are working together to support education charity Teach For India.

‘Teach for India’ offers training to Teachers, locals and internationals, willing to work in low income private and government funded schools to improve the education and facilities of the pupils of those schools.

Within India itself there are many different aspects of Education inequality, starting but not limited to the class differentiations. There is a large difference between urban and rural areas. Within Urban areas, taking Mumbai as a prime example there are 6.5 million residents with approximately 55% living in slums. India suffers extreme poverty.

Regrettably, not all children are able to fully access education within school and from those who do, they lack the basic preschool education and general readiness.
There is also a lack of physical education, music, art, vocational education, early childhood, and special education teachers.

COVID-19 has caused children in India to suffer the loss of 20 months in physical school time. Physical activities, entertainment, social activities were all restricted, causing a steep decline in the physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing of children.

Kamal Prabhakar, lead projects director at Heaven Help Us Cricket Club believes ‘This project is crucial to bring education to children in India who otherwise are not in a position to access this basic human right. The greatest gift society can give is the gift of education.’
Imaan and her fellow A-Level students have given themselves the name “Shiksha Movement”. Their aim is to raise funds that shall be used by the charity ‘Teach for India’ to train more teachers and to help build new schools in India. Shiksha Movement are hoping to visit India in April 2022 to oversee how their fundraising efforts shall be used to help children access education in India.

Please donate via ‘Our Global Giving’. All proceeds will be donated to this cause. Please support us in providing children with their basic human right – a quality education. Please click on the link below;
