Hello Mumbai International Desk :

The controversy, after Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remarks on farmers’ protest in India, is refusing to die down. He had recently sparked controversy by backing the agitating farmers in India, and saying his country will always be there to defend the rights of peaceful protests. He had expressed concern over the situation. Following which India slammed Canada’s stand on farmers’ protests in India.

Experts believe that his remarks could damage India-Canada relationship, and especially the trade ties. Amid this controversy, Indo-Canadian Businessman, Mr Hemant M Shah is trying to pacify the situation between both the countries. He is pushing for strong trade relations, as Shah believes Canada and India together can achieve great heights in trades.

Speaking to our portal, Shah said, “I appreciate the concern of Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau about Indian farmers. But being a Canadian taxpayer, my humble request to our honourable PM is to concentrate on the present situation in Canada. According to experts, the second wave of Covid-19 is likely to come soon. There is a lockdown situation in the country and due to this unease scenario, people are worried.  We should be concentrating more in Canada, instead of India. Country’s citizen wants to know when Covid-19 vaccine would be rolled out, and about the preparedness by the government to tackle Covid-19 impacts.”

Stressing on the strong need for Canada-India trade, he commented, “If our PM wants to support and stand with India, then my humble request is to concentrate on Canada-India trade. Already lots of time and efforts have been put by many making this relation solidify. Over the years, lots of individuals and associations across Canada and India, government, trade commissioner services, and others have put lots of time and energy in developing the closer and stronger relationship, and lots of Canada’s taxpayers’ money have been invested on this, so let’s solidify on this relationship.”

“India to Canada exports is surplus, but Canada to India we need more exports as we are not in excess as of now. We need to focus on such aspects and also take steps in clearing the hurdles, if any, in order to make trading ease. I always say, “Exports builds Canada” therefore we need to focus more on exports. It will not only create more jobs in the country but will also help in boosting the economy. And I am sure, our PM will work in this direction as the country’s growth and economic development are very important for him,” Shah further added.

Being a proud Indo Canadian residing in Canada, he concluded, “I am blessed with two mothers; India-The Maatrbhoomi and Canada-The Karmbhoomi just like Lord Krishna, who had two mothers. I hope both the countries will work together closely in the trade so that the circumstances like current one could never arise.”

Shah is known as one of the stalwarts in the International trading business as he is into this field from the last four decades. He also helped to strengthen ties between Canada and India with his expertise. He knows the ins and outs of International business.

Am confident Govt of India and farmers will reach amicably solution to this Crisis.
