Mumbai, January 25, 2024
Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) carried out a massive protest march in Mumbai after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was stopped short on its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam by its Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. MRCC President-MLA Prof. Varsha Gaikwad led the march carried out at the Mumbai Congress office on Thursday.
Hundreds of Congress workers attended the march including senior Congress leaders such as former Mumbai Congress President and MLA Bhai Jagtap, Working President of Mumbai Congress Charan Singh Sapra, and MLA Madhu Chavhan among others.
Gaikwad said Himanta Biswa Sarma is scared of the success the Yatra is getting. “The march led by Rahulji is peaceful and is getting tons of love from Assam citizens, and the Assam CM is using high-handedness and cowardly attacks to hinder the Yatra. He even carried out a lathi charge against innocent workers. The Congress is firmly against the BJP government for the move,” she said.
Recently, nearly 5,000 Congress workers, along with Rahul Gandhi, who are on their way from Manipur to Mumbai, trying to enter Guwahati were intercepted in Assam.
