Mumbai Police sends message to Citizens to avoid Terrace Parties on New Year Eve on 31 December

In the backdrop of an abrupt rise in Covid-19 Pandemic cases and the spread of Omicron variant, Mumbai Police sends message to Citizens
“First, stay safe and don’t even think about terrace parties on 31st night”.

Amid the Night Curfew Mumbai Police say that stringent action action will be taken if they find five or more people gathering at one place on New Year’s Eve on 31 December. According to Senior officers they will keep an eye on secret parties in public and private places like terraces and halls.

A special squad has been formed to keep a watch on private properties for parties on December 31. While the terrace is a commonplace for New Year parties, this time in view of the pandemic situation no terrace parties.

The officer further added they are also worried following the sensational murder of an 18-year-old woman last year New Year Eve party at Khar.

Apparently, Jhanvi Kukreja, the victim was killed after a fight ensued at the terrace party at Bhagwati Heights Society in Khar.

Beat Marshalls and Special Squad will keep an eye on such parties. If any society or any group of people found partying, they will be booked under section 144 CrPC.
