Rotary Club Of Mumbai Elegant Charity Projects amid pandemic :

Rotary Club Of Mumbai Elegant is a club of 100+ women from Suburban Mumbai with different professional & business backgrounds, aimed towards supporting the common Rotary cause of Giving back to the society & Creating a better world for all !!
Rotary Club of Mumbai Elegant has been an active and vibrant club since 2018 with more than 100 members, women from reputed & respectable families from all over Mumbai.
Elegant is an all women’s club founded by Rtn Tehmina Khandwala and is being led by Vision President Rtn Prachi Ajmera for the year 2020-21.

Few of the projects done by us during the pandemic are as below :

PROJECT BAGHBAN
We began the Vision year with a relevant project ‘Baghban’ devoted to our elderly parents. ‘Baghban’ was a unique event organised at Rajpuria old age home in Bhayander. It included the elderly from the Old Age Home who benefited from this project, which was followed by a ‘Chaat’ entertainment party. A ‘Deep Freezer’ was donated to this home. Essentials for the home were also provided. The smiles on the faces of the elders and their blessings are more than what the RCME women could have wished for!

SANITISER STANDS & SANITISERS DONATION
In the presence of Mangal Prabhat Lodha Ji, Manju Ji Lodha and Corporator Jyotsna Ben, RCME distributed 100 Sanitiser Stands, 100 Sanitiser dispensers and 100 Sanitiser Cans, 5lts each as an initiative of “Jan Jagran Abhiyan” during this Covid Pandemic!!
Supported by Hena Happiness Foundation.
We got an overwhelming response. All the Trustees of Temples, Police Stations & Slums from BanGanga to Worli Koliwada were present at the occasion!
We are very happy that this initiative will spread an awareness regarding washing hands and using sanitisers regularly.
We believe in Clean your Hands, Protect Your Health !!

DISTRIBUTION OF ESSENTIAL ITEMS
Basic essentials like Towels, napkins , bed sheets , steel utensils were distributed to slums in Bandra East who were Victims of a recent fire .
MASKS DISTRIBUTION
RCME distributed 2000 masks to slums in Andheri East.

DISTRIBUTION OF THERMOMETER & STEAMER
RCME donated 100 Infrared Thermometers & 50 Steamers to Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation.

SAFETY GEAR DISTRIBUTION TO MUMBAI POLICE
RCME in association with Rotary Club Of Mumbai Coastline distributed substantial Covid19 related safety gear and equipment to Mumbai Police Welfare Foundation

PPE SUITS, PPE KITS & BEDSHEETS DONATION
“We are in this together — And we will get through this together”
In RCME’s on-going efforts towards battling Covid & helping people to do so,
– 150 PPE suits were distributed at Bharatratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar mun general hospital (Shatabdi Hospital), Parekh Nagar, S.V Road, Kandivali West
&
– 100 PPE suits and 250 packets of Plastic bed sheets were given at Brahmakumari Hospital.

GRAINS DISTRIBUTION TO THE BLIND & DESTITUTE
“Selfless giving is the art of living.”
In our endeavour to donate grains, we are happy to inform that we were able to provide the destitute & blind people with :
370 kgs rice, 370 kgs atta, 200 kgs dal, 185 kgs sugar, 185 kgs salt, 190 lts cooking oil, 175 packets of 100 gm Haldi & 175 packets of 100 gm mirchi.

DONATION OF CYCLES FOR MUMBAI DABBAWALAS
If the local trains are Mumbai’s lifeline, this army of fantastic people ferrying food from one end of the city to another deserve the same status. Come rain or shine, these men soldier on and make sure Mumbai eats on time.. We donated 5 Cycles to Mumbai Dabbawalas

DONATION OF MASKS FOR MUMBAI DABBAWALAS
Rotary club of Mumbai Elegant gave them 2500 masks
PROJECT-DONATION OF STATIONERY KITS, ART KITS, FOOD,BOARD GAMES ETC
As its said “Never get tired of doing little things for others, sometimes those little things occupy the biggest parts of their hearts !!”
With Grant-A-Wish at Christmas, we were able to touch the hearts of many children at St. Catherine’s Church & House of Charity
Also at New year, it was a sight to see their smiling happy faces when they received a special treat (samosa, chips & cake) from RCME

DISTRIBUTION OF SHOES & CLOTHES
RCME donated clothes and shoes to 40 inmates staying at House of Charity, Versova, which houses mentally challenged people

3H PROJECT (HEALTH & HYGIENE)
There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of Food!”
3000 food packets were distributed under 3H project (Hunger, Health, Hygiene) to the children & residents at Ambojwadi, Malad West by RCME.. It was an exhilarating experience to see the twinkle in their eye when they knew we have come to distribute them food…..

As a part of the 3H project, health & hygiene kits were provided to the children & ladies of Vada village.

SOLAR WATER PROJECT
“If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water.”
Who would know the importance of water more than those who have to walk miles for even a single sip..
It was indeed a great feeling when RCME inaugurated the Solar water pump at Grampanchayat Talasri, Jawar, Palghar District.
The project benefits 33 phadas & 1 school where taps were installed & water was brought to their own doorstep, on-demand clean drinking water every day, also incorporated storage of water in overhead tanks. This will make water available for cleaning and sanitation purposes, as well.

DONATION OF PROSTHETIC LIMBS – FLAGSHIP PROJECT
Service to humanity is the best work of life!!
It gives us immense joy that our club RCME has executed one of the most worthy projects of donating 15 prosthetic limbs at Talegaon, Dist Pune… adding joy and happiness in their lives… now life will be at the back a hand for them too & as normal as anybody else !

COVID19 VACCINATION
RCME administered 230 vaccines doses at Lifeline Medicare Hospital

SUPPORTING BURNT VICTIMS – VIA SONU SOOD FOUNDATION
Rotary Club of Mumbai Elegant collaborated with ‘Sood Charity Foundation’ for reconstructive surgeries for the correction of burn deformities.
We contributed a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs towards 10 such surgeries

PEDIATRIC HEART SURGERIES
Sometimes, real superheroes live in the heart of small children fighting big battles!
It gives immense joy that RCME has initiated Paediatric Heart surgeries in Wadia hospital. 5 surgeries have been successfully done and 23 more will be done soon.

MIGRANT WORKERS GRAIN DISTRIBUTION
“If you’re in the luckiest one percent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 percent.”
100 families of migrant workers in Belapur were facing a major challenge – FOOD !!
RCME provided them with grain & food kits.

HELP AT JAIPUR COVID CENTRE
Radha Swami Satsang Bhirwa Covid Centre in Jaipur were provided with :
500 beds, 1000 bedsheets, 1000 pillow covers, 500 pillows , 500 fans, 500 tables, 500 dustbins, 500 Hot meals @ 50/-

PROJECT AASHIYANA
“Aashiyana” – Providing a Quality house for tribal poor families. A District initiative where Elegant supported the cause with 3 houses !!
