Mumbai: Mumbai’s five actresses who failed in their political career, Read details in Hello Mumbai

No doubt Bollywood is a dream for all aspirants to stardom and to make name and fame. It hasn’t been a rosy career for some aspirants who haven’t been able to live up in the dazzling world of glamour and neons. One failed movie throws the actor out of sight and mind. Yet some of them have had several flop films and finally understood that acting isn’t their cup of tea. Many people keep wondering what the Bollywood actors do after a failed career in the industry. Hello Mumbai brings you the names of the actresses who opted for other career.

Nagma – Actress-turned Politician

Nagma’s career in Bollywood didn’t last long. She wasn’t getting good offers. She began her film career as child when was just six years old and did many films but not all of them proved successful as expected by Nagma.

Then later she made a mistake of having a liaison with Cricketer Sourav Ganguly. This too didn’t last long. She made a second attempt at Hindi films, which never worked. Thereafter she decided to turn from femme fatale to fashionista with an eponymous fashion store.

Then she embraced politics and joined Congress.
Why she embraced politics?
She came into politics for her love towards the country.
“She said for the nation only reason for coming into politics. I follow the ideology of Gandhi and Nehru.” She had also worked in Tamil films like Kadhalan, Love Birds and Mettukudi.

Urmila Matondkar

After doing a blockbuster film Rangeela helmed by Ram Gopal Varma she took to sabbatical and she did not get big offers even after her super hit directed film Rangeela

In not getting plum assignments, she took to politics and joined Congress party. She contested from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency against arch-opponent Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gopal Shetty.

Urmila Matondkar, took to acting when she was just six years old. As a child artiste, she had made an instant impact with the Marathi film Zaakol followed by Shyam Benegal’s Kalyug, Masoom, and Rahul Rawail’s Dacait including the widely-lauded gangster drama Satya and the ghost story Bhoot. Urmila has done 60 films, in Hindi and other languages. Her performances in Judai, Pinjar and Ek Hasina Thi was seen as her career-best.

Isha Koppikar:

Isha Koppikar was best recognised for her performance in movies like Krishna Cottage, Darling, Don, and Kya Kool Hai Hum, Isha Koppikar is an example of beauty, motherhood, and life choices. She made a mark for herself with her incredible performances in a couple of films.

In not getting plum assignments in Bollywood she dabbled into politics though it wasn’t her idea to get into it. Isha felt that to bring change, one needs to ‘have an authoritative way’.

Rakhi Sawant:

Rakhi Sawant had been a model before she became an actress in Hindi films and television serials and television talk show host. The actress has done few Kannad, Marathi, Odia, Telugu and Tamil films. She was a contestant on the first season of the controversial Indian reality television series Bigg Boss 1 Big in 2006

Since her Bollywood career wasn’t taking grounds she embraced politics and subsequently launched her own political party headed by Jai Shah, called the Rashtriya Aam Party (RSP).to contest the 2014 LS Elections. 2014. However, after the election, she joined Republican party of India
Even her political career was also not as expected by her.

Shilpa Shinde:

Shilpa Shinde, who made headlines for her controversial exit from comedy drama Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, again came in the limelight. The TV actress had accused Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) of sabotaging her career. She stated that because of her expulsion, she has failed to get good roles on TV.and in films.
