Holi is a festival of colors and a celebratiòn of the vìctory of good over evil the ďestruction of the Demòness Holika. People celebrate the start of Spring Season and spray color powder amidst dancing and singing.
Although a Hindi Festival it is popular among Non-Hindus. Prior to Holi the previous night light a bonfire knòwn as Holika Dahan to destroy the evil spirit.

Taking òpportunity of the auspicious occasion of the Festival of Colors Hello Mumbai talked to prominent make up artists from Mumbai and Nagpur ,and to know their views on Holi celebration and how it is celebrated.These Make up artists shared their Safety Tips .

Holi is a very important festival. We should use only organic coloures and avoid dry dark colours because these colours are very harmful to our skin..We should take precaution about our Hair Care. My suggestion is to use light colour and take care of your skin .

Her Tips :

Use a waterproof sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays, sunburn
Protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses and remove contact lenses before going out to play Holi. In any situation, color enters the eyes take an immediate step and rinse them with cold water.

Being a Beautician and make up artists we like all colours às every colour is very important in our life. We should use only organic colour and celebrate ECo friendly Holi.

Her Tips :

Do not use toxic chemical colors
Most of the colors that are available in the market today contain hazardous chemicals like mercury, asbestos, silica, mica, and lead. They are industrial dyes, and alkalis, which are incredibly toxic to the human skin, and especially the eyes.

Go organic. You can choose dry, natural, herbal, and organic colours for playing with others. These colours are skin-safe with minimal adverse effects. Avoid synthetic, metal-based, and glass powder colours. Also, refrain from dark and wet colours.

Try and avoid touching your face and eyes during the Holi revelry, except to cover your eyes and nose while playing with gulal.

Holi is a very vibrant festival and i love to celebrate it with my family & close friends. By celebrating holi in a simple and chemical free way we perform our duty towards our environment. I as an individual have vowed to not use harsh colours this holi and celebrate it using eco friendly colours.

Her Tips :

Try to Avoid applying harsh soaps chemicals and shampoo to get clear of the color. Try to Use a mild soap or face wash like-Clean & Clear Santoor Sandal Soap, Nivea Creme Soft Soap, for your skin and baby shampoo followed by conditioner for your hair.

Use a large amount of moisturizing lotion or oil on your face, arms, legs and any exposed part of the skin.

Holi is the festival of colours but it has to be celebrated in various other ways too. Instead of Only smearing colour on our friends, we can use this opportunity to spread colours in lives of people who are less fortunate and who need the light in their lives.

Use organic Colors while plsying  Holi If the original colors are not possible, you should ensure a sufficient variety of colors. Buy colors from a good shop.
