Mumbai Mahila Suraksha Seva Sanstha celebrated Sarv Dharam Sambhav Haldi Kumkum function with the JJ Marg Police Female Staff at the JJ Marg Police Station on 28th January 2020.
This ceremony witnessed the attendance by Byculla MLA Smt Yamini Jadhav, Munira Khan and all lady Police Officers and staff.
Munira Khan Founder President of Mahila Suraksha Seva Sanstha informed Hello Mumbai News that she feels proud to have been the first Muslim Woman to conduct the traditional Haldi Kumkum ceremony at the JJ Marg Police Station 3 years ago. Thereafter every year the said Police Station invites and felicitates her.
Munira Khan along with her women team drawn from all communities used to attend this traditional function.
The Mohulla Committee Members both Hindus and Muslims also attended the same.
Munira Khan says, “I want to eradicate the communal differences among our citizens. It’s my dream and hence I have taken up the initiative. At that time the then Sr PI Shri Shirish Gaikwad Saheb gave me the opportunity to take up such kind of programme.
She further added “I believe in only one religion — Humanity. India is a Single Nation having so many religions, languages and festivals which makes our Nation special and not devoted to a particular community. Women should start such Sarv Dharm Sambhav cultural activities all over India so as to save the secularism of India.”
Many Muslim women attended this ceremony. This ceremony is particularly popular in western Indian states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa and Gujarat. In Tamil Nadu it is celebrated as adiperukku aka aadi monsoon festival which is celebrated on 18th day of the Tamil month of Adi.
