Mumbai: Rashmi Thackeray takes charge as Editor of Sena Mouthpiece “Saamna”

Mumbai: .In a surprising development, Mumbai Shiv Sena Mouthpiece “Saamna” will henceforth be powered by a Lady Editor in Rashmi Thackeray, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray..

The credit-line in the newspaper shows ‘Rashmi Uddhav Thackeray’ as the Editor.

Meanwhile, Uddhav’s confidante Sanjay Raut will continue to be the Executive Editor. 

Saamana,  the Marathi broadsheet,  was launched on 23 January, 1983 by late Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray as its Editor.
Its Hindi tabloid version, Dophar ka Saamana,  was launched ln 23rd February,  1993.

Uddhav’s  elder son,  Aditya,  is also a Minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government holding portfolios of Protocol, Environment and Tourism, while younger son, Tejas, is into wildlife and environment conservation.

On this occasion, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis’s Amruta congratulated Rashmi. Taking to her tweeter handle Amruta Fadnavis tweeted.

“Congratulations & best wishes to Smt #RashmiThackeray for being appointed as new Editor of #Saamana! Our country needs more women in top leadership positions to represent the issues of women & society & also have a platform to voice their opinions in matters of public importance!”.
