Mumbai actress Paayal Kapoor Nair says, “Meghna Gulzar has made a good and meaningful film”.
With the Meghna Gulzar directed film Chhapaak having hit the big screens on the 10th of January and got engulfed in criticisms following Deepika Padukone’s visit to JNU, ‘Hello Mumbai News’ took the opportunity to interact with Paayal Nair over the phone. Excerpts of the conversation.
During the conversation, we her quizzed on her experience of sharing screen space with Deepika Padukone. To that she said, “It was indeed an honour to have had gotten the opportunity to work with an actress of that status. Deepika Padukone is a total humane person and never let me feel nervous. In fact, she was very co-operative and supportive on the set and I really enjoyed working with her.”
On her character in the film she affirmed that she essays the role of a social activist who helped the acid victim in her legal battles as well as taking care of her medical needs. That in itself is sort of a critically acclaimed character.
On her views and comments on Chhapaak, Paayal said that she watched the film twice with the audience and with her husband and family members. Once to see her character and the second time purely as an audience. She observed the reactions and remarked, “Particularly my husband got a bit emotional on seeing my character in the film. There are many emotional moments in the film and the audience enjoyed watching.”
Paayal is all praise to the director of the film Meghna Gulzar for her deft direction.
On the work front she is getting offers for web series from big producers and directors.
On the whole, Paayal enjoyed essaying her character in the film.
